# Open DS > Open DS is a finite grammar for design systems. A scheme is one full set of answers to it, each with a reason. A scheme deploys as a full design system: Style Dictionary tokens (light and dark), shadcn-style components on component keys, Storybook, docs, AGENTS.md, an agent skill and an MCP server. Pick a scheme by its use_when and avoid_when. Deploy it with the CLI (`open-ds init `) or the MCP tool `deploy`. While building UI, follow the scheme's usage rules (`when_to_use`) and voice; explain decisions with `why`. ## Schemes - [Accessible first](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/schemes/accessible-first.json): id accessible-first. Large text, large targets and AAA contrast, so everyone can finish the task. Use when: Public services, health, government and any product that must work for everyone. - [Brand expressive](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/schemes/brand-expressive.json): id brand-expressive. Big display type, vivid color and springy motion, for launches that must be remembered. Use when: Launch sites, campaigns, marketing pages and consumer brands that lead with personality. - [Content first](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/schemes/content-first.json): id content-first. Large, calm type and generous space, for people who come to read. Use when: Publications, documentation, blogs, guides and help centers. - [Dense data](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/schemes/dense-data.json): id dense-data. Compact, exact and quiet, for analysts who scan alerts and compare signals all day. Use when: Security operations, threat detection, model monitoring, admin panels and analytics: many records, daily expert users, mouse and keyboard. - [Multi-brand](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/schemes/multi-brand.json): id multi-brand. One shared system with three brands as themes. Components never change; brand primitives do. Use when: Companies with several brands or white-label products on one component library. ## Grammar and formats - [Grammar](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/schemes/grammar.json): 9 reason groups, 12 scopes (each answers the same 5 method questions: roles, how many, how defined, values, lands in), 78 questions, 33 situations, 71 component keys - [Scheme JSON Schema](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/schema/scheme.schema.json): the scheme format, every property described - [Grammar JSON Schema](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/schema/grammar.schema.json): the grammar format ## Tools - [CLI](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/cli/README.md): list, show, why, when, init, add - [MCP server](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/mcp/README.md): list_schemes, get_scheme, get_answer, why, when_to_use, compare_schemes, get_inventory, what_moves, get_key, plan_create, plan_init, plan_add; the skills as prompts - [Agent skill](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/skills/open-ds/SKILL.md): how an agent picks, deploys and follows a scheme - [AGENTS.md](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/AGENTS.md): how to work on this repository ## Optional - [llms-full.txt](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/3dyonic/Open-DS/RC1/llms-full.txt): every scheme in one file: answers with reasons, usage rules, voice
